couldn't very well make this mod for DooM)

Quake C : yes
Sound : yes (see below)
MDL : yes (stolen from Raven's Hexen II, sorry, if someone else
uses the specs from this patch to make a weapon in
one of their own mods, make a new model. This was
just to show how it could be done)

unified diff : no (?)
context diff : no (?)
.qc files : nope. I use the orphaned ACCQC, and it's output files
look different than what most compilers give you.
                       Decaompile it yourself.

I know that this patch works perfect in LAN games. Don't know about
Internet gaming though.

  Description of the Modification
ͼ

I've been playing Hexen II on the internet since it came out, and it kicks
ass! Anyway, the main reason I like it is the Vorpal Sword, the paladin's
number 2 weapon. For those of you who haven't played Hexen II, the vorpal
sword is a melee weapon that has real long range, and it's much easier to
hit with than a Quake axe. It has a swing arc, which means that if there
is a victim standing within your field of vision when you swing it, and he's
close enough, he'll get hit. Also, If you hit them hard enough, it'll
take their head off. Sweat.
Oh yeah, and I created a nasty decapitation sequence for the player when
he gets killed by the vorpal sword. If you don't want the sword, you could
still get this patch to steal the decap sequence :)

For version 1.0b-
This one trully makes the vorpal sword into what it really is. The Hexen 2
samurai showdown-esque sword slash is now in, and it looks great (not as
good as in Hexen 2, but it's still damn violent looking)
Oh yeah, and just because it's so damn cool and by far better than the
shaft, I replaced weapon number 8 with the Positron Beam. SiNGE and
Griphis rule, you must pay them homage!

ͻ
  How to use Modification
ͼ

Start your game with quake -game GAME, where GAME is the directory in which
you installed the patch.

The vorpal sword replaces the regular nailgun (weapon #4). Just select it
as you would the nailgun (if anybody would really select the nailgun, anyway)
and it uses nails, but only when it deals damage.
The Positron Beam Cannon replaces the Shaft (lightning bolt, weapon #8).
This one uses 10 cells per shot. I believe it originally used 20, but it
had to kick more ass for how cool it was. Besides, look at DooM's BFG9000-
even 40 cells wasn't enough for the destruction it wrought.

ͻ
  How to Install the Modification
ͼ

If you don't have a master's degree in Engineering, this'll be tough.

Unzip it using Winzip.
Here's the complicated part... if you only have PKUNZIP, then unzip it
with the -d parameter.

  Future Enhancements
ͼ

I've got another weapon idea, the Warhammer 40,000 shuriken shrieker
cannon. This one'll be in the next version. Trust me, if you like to
watch torture, you'll love this one.

Anything else you want to see? More limbs flyin' off? (I've got a cool
animation I began making already, where the player loses his torso)

Do whatever you want, I made it so you could peel it apart and play with
it. Sorry guys if you really didn't want anyone to use your work in a mod,
I wasn't originally planning on releasing this one, and I had to have that
weapon to use during deathmatch while testing the sword.
