*Installation: This level uses it's own progs.dat
for so needs to be installed in it's own directory
and run as a modification. Extract all files in
this .zip archive into your quake folder and make
sure winzip is using the extra folder info. This
will create a directory called 'apsp1'. From there
you can run the batch file and choose your options
from the menu (skill 1 recommended) or you could
run the game via the command prompt:

c:\quake\glquake -game apsp1 +map apsp1 +skill 1

DO NOT USE DOSQUAKE TO RUN THIS MAP! It will load
on skill 0 or 1 but often crashes out due to a lack
of free edicts. Use winquake or glquake only!

*"Story":

They said it was urgent, if it's so urgent then why
are you the only one here? Why don't you know anything
about what you are doing here? Was it guard duty? Getting
dumped on guard duty was just your luck... but surely
one man can't guard an entire base on his own?

You walk into the entrance hall of and look
around yet spot nobody, no signs of life, just the
hypnotic "blip blip" of the computer terminals. After
deciding a more thorough investigation is required you
take a quick look at the security cameras which are all
displaying static before noticing the maintenence lift
the other side of the room.

As you walk onto the lift you hear noises from below...
you cautiously press the button on the wall in front
of you and the lift begins it's descent.

The journey down the shaft feels like forever. As the
gravity defying platform moves slowly into the darkness,
your messenger begins vibrating sweetly against your
leg indicating an incoming transmission.

You think about leaving it a few more moments but are
itching to know what the hell you are doing here. You
lift the unit out of your pocket and press the 'receive'
button...

Incoming transmission...

...the slipgate in the Dimension Complex has become
unstable. We have detected clusters of highly negatively
charged particles which are causing power problems
in some areas and also defence system lockouts.

These clusters are most likely the same kind of
monstrosities we have been researching here attempting
to enter the complex via the slipgate. Since the gate
is not fully functional prepare yourself for surprise
attacks as the destination of anything trying to get
through the slipgate is not focused to the slipgate
hangar only.

Sorry we could not equip you with any weapons, one
experimental subject managed to escape and destroy our
stock room (and was caught in the explosion thankfully).
There will be weapons in the Complex so keep your eye
open...

...end transmission

"That's just fucking great," you say to yourself as you
pull out your shotgun and load it with the few shells in
your pack. "Well, I guess killing things is going to be
more fun than guarding them," you grunt as the final shell
slides into the ammo chamber of your gun.

The sides of the shaft are starting to get lighter and
the noises are getting louder...

*Level Info: This level too me ages to build. It's
a fairly complex and large base styled map textured
in the ikbase set (easy to work with). I can't really
be arsed writing more than this so read the blurb
on my homepage instead if you want to know more.

If you do any speedruns on the map or have comments
then mail them to me at than@planetquake.com
