~~ THE STORY ~~

(recommended to read in a maximized window)

"You're awake! finally."
a mysterious voice says to you, the sound rings in your head as if struck like a bell.
The last thing you remember is stepping through that damned slipgate after clearing out yet another military base on earth.
"Typical." You think to yourself, but to your surprise, the echoing voice laughs good-naturedly, As if you just told a pretty funny joke to a good friend.
"Typical? Ah, this is no ordinary hellish nightmare realm filled with eldritch monsters. This is MY hellish nightmare realm filled with eldritch monsters, and I made-
it just for you!"
You grumble something about "Stupid elder gods" and their "crazy ideas of 'entertainment'." and try to stand up, but you find you're still stuck within that odd, squirming,-
starry void that you've grown so used to seeing inside of teleporters, but now it surrounds you, choking and cold like a lake.
"Ah, dont mind the mess." The voice says, you can detect a faint smugness in its voice. "I was just keeping you here, waiting for you to wake up before sending you off on-
your adventure."
The stars begin to move, rushing past you in a flurry of white streaks, making sounds akin to screams. Then you find yourself inside a man-made slipgate, just like the-
ones back on Earth. you feel the voice's prescence begin to fade, as if it was walking away.

"Have fun, kid!"

~~ Tips and Advice ~~

The Chaos God has put you through his personally made combat trial, there will be several arenas around the level, with the spaces between populated by monsters and secrets alike!
If you've played Quake, some of these should be rather obvious, but some are more hidden than others. Though the Chaos God has been generous enough to include some clues as to their
existence. Try looking at anything that seems out of place to you, a rune on the wall, a strangely colored light, an odd stream of particles, it can be anything!
The Chaos God likes to mess with your perceptions of reality and space, so try and take a look at some things that only look normal from a certain angle for some of those secrets!

Recommended skill: Normal.
Co-Op supported, but not Deathmatch supported.

~~How to Install~~

Download the files and unzip them. Copy them, then go to your Quake folder. You should see a folder called Id1, open that up and create a folder called "maps" and put the two
files in there. Then you want to open up Quake (with the port of your choosing, Quakespasm recommended for this map) and type "map cotcg" into the console.
Have Fun!

~~ EPILOGUE (spoilers maybe?) ~~

"So, you did it?"
The mysterious voice speaks to you again. Through the adventure you had heard its voice, mocking you, taunting you, and sometimes congratulating you.
You feel the familiar cold rush of dead wind as you step through the final slipgate, soaked from head to toe in sweat, and the blood of the unknown horrors you've laid waste to.
You're quickly transported to a cozy looking room, stuffed heads of the children of Shub-Ngurath adorning the walls above a fireplace, amongst its crackles, you hear a soft drone.
It's raining outside.
Before you sits a thin, strangely dressed person, their skin is a dark gray, and they have three, glowing blue eyes. A strange shape protrudes from thier collarbone and wraps around-
the head, Covered in glowing specks of blue and large spikes. Thier upper body is a strange shade of velvety red, and upon their chest is a symbol.
its the same one you saw at the end of his trial.
"And what was this all for, huh?" you say, raising your arms in exhaustion and anger, clutching the trigger of your shotgun as you aim the double barrels at the bastards single-horned head.
The Chaos God motions his hand to the opposite chair, on the other side of a coffee table made from Fiend-hide and the bones of undead. Dispite your exhaustion, you refuse to take a seat.
"You've at least got the damn nerve to show yourself personally, unlike the other two I had to chase down." You thought back to the monstrous, unforgiving heat of Chthon, and the maddening, -
trapping whispers of Shub-Ngurath. The promise of your family returned to you, to live in a paradise without grief or fear. You had refused, then. Knowing you would never see them again-
either way.
The Chaos God laughs, theres an uncomfortable screeching ambience that accompanies it, as if the air around him was reeling back in disgust.
"You've got fight in you yet, despite everything? I'd be surprised if I hadn't seen it before." He chuckles, staring down the twin barrels of your shotgun without the slightest trace of-
worry or concern.
"You've spilled a lot of blood. You've killed enough of those wretched things to end a war. And yet you continue onwards, hopelessly trying to find the one lucky slipgate that'll take you-
back to the complex back home. You've been at this for almost 25 years, and yet you still aren't satisfied?" he speaks with a smug confidence as his grin widens to reveal his jagged, almost-
cartoonish teeth. Outside, a bolt of lightning illuminates the room, ringing with distant thunder.
"Your point? because right about now you remind me of a... Pizza cutter." It took you a second to remember the items name.
"All edge-"
"No point?" He interrupts, studying the claws on his hands. "As if I haven't heard that joke before. You're as good at jokes as you are at finding secrets."
"Now, I'd love to give you a climactic boss-battle, but I'm afraid I can't. You are needed... Elsewhere."
Your arm has begun to grow weary from holding the gun in place for such a while, yet you refused to drop it.
"What the hell do you mean 'elsewhere?' Am I nothing more than a lab rat to you? A freshly bought toy? Something you can just pick up, toss around, and then leave to gather dust for a-
few years?"
The Chaos God sighs, as if dissapointed.
"Did it really take you this long to figure out? I'm not the only one who essentially guides you like a shepard leads his flock, I'm one of thousands, if not millions. It's just that-
I'm the few that actually bothered to talk to you."
You grit your teeth in rage and take the shot, his body collapsing into a singularity from where his head was, which begins to pull everything in, the wood from the fireplace, the-
tiles from the ground, and whatever else. You react by running the opposite direction, but instead you loose your grip, and you hear his echoing laughter as you're forced to the next-
of your countless adventures.
