I got the idea of this map from Contra III's overhead levels. You have the ability to drop anywhere in the level and get a start, but you can't exit until you find both keys, and getting both keys will be very difficult if you haven't found some extra weapons.

I wanted to make a map that's very difficult, but the player learns about the map's layout with each attempt, making further attempts more informed. Actually, I always try to do that, but this map is that idea distilled down to its very essence. The player will learn where all the items are, where the best place to drop is, and how they should navigate through the level to face as little difficulty as possible.

I crunched very hard on this map, working on it for 23 hours straight on Sunday. I only finished because we extended the deadline by one day. I definitely overscoped this map and it taught me a lot about my limits on how fast I can create a map of this size.
