What is Half-Lifability ?

Half-Lifability is a conversion for Half-Life of the mod Quakability. Both mods were made by myself, Coco T., member of the Neurotic Conversions Team.
Half-Lifability is a simple death-match modification that is intended to make the death-match games slightly harder but most of all more exiting to play. The new rules are the following : each time a player frags another player, he/she earns not only not one frag but he/she also goes up in the "Half-Lifability" ladder.
That means that he/she automatically respawns elsewhere in the level with a maximum health reduced by two points. In other words, each player's maximum health equals to "100 minus (his/her frags * 2)". Thus, as players frag each other, their maximum health gradually decreases. Furthermore, as players go up in the quackability ladder, they also loose the possibility to use certain weapons, armors and power-ups,
which makes killing all the more difficult (press "h" during game to know more about this).
The winner of a Half-Lifability death-match game is the first player whose maximum health has been reduced to 2 and who's able to frag someone else.

To put it simply, the winner of a Half-Lifability game is someone who's able to both frag AND survive, it is someone who's able to make a good shot not only with a good weapon and full health but ALSO with a poor weapon and a poor health ! Games usually start as normal death-match games but gradually turn into a quest to frag AND remain alive ...

How to install it ?

- Unzip the main zip file into your Half-Life directory (respecting folders)
- Launch Half-Life and ask for custom game
- Choose Half-Lifability in the menu
- Start a multiplayer game as you normally would and you're launched !

Note that no maps will be listed as you create a game. You have to start one anyway and then type "map yourmapname" in the console to start the game.

What's the future of this mod ?

Well, this is a hard question to answer right now. As I (Coco T.) am working on other mods, it's difficult to say if I will improve the current version of Half-Lifability or not. Since I'm currently working on "Quakability : Bot Arena", a massive improvement on the first version of Quakability (which corresponds more or less to this version of Half-Lifability), I guess I could try to implement the same kind of changes (complex menus, bots ... etc) into Half-Lifability. However, it is too early to say. The best thing to do if you're really interested in this mod is to check our site from time to time :
