Character Control: Baldur's Gate F.A.Q. and Info

Current Version

1.3 BETA

Description
===========

Thanks for all those who have been keeping a positive
attitude regarding the editor I am developing. As
many may have noticed, there have been some obsticles.
These have included things like save game files not
storing the data in the same places all the time...and
just when I thought I'd gotten this figured out, I was
shown to be incorrect.  ;-)

The new direction the editor is going centers on the
idea that Character Files (xxxxxxxx.chr) are more similar
to each other and therefore more easily edited. Using
these files with my editor makes it a more "universal"
editor as well...as it becaome a little easier (fewer
steps) to actually succeed in editing characters used in
Multi-Player mode. Which leads me to my next topic.

Single vs. Multi Player
=======================

To put it simply, DON'T EVER PLAY A SINGLE PLAYER GAME.
The reason I say this is because and individual can play
a Multi-Player game and play anywhere from 1 to 6 PC's
(Player Characters)...i.e. - To emulate a standard Single
Player game, simply play a Multi-Player game with 1 PC.

An individual can do this by setting up to play with a
serial connection. This will then allow you to Import
and Export PC's at will...for editing or whatever other
reason. Whereas, in Single Player mode, you can ONLY
Import during Character Generation (meaning to edit a
character you'd then have to restart the game).

Practical Use of the Editor
===========================

As I said earlier, this editor is now set up to edit
Character Files (xxxxxxxx.chr), which are located in the
sub-directory called "Characters".

Simply Export the character you desire to edit, load them
into the editor, do what you will, and then Import the
character back into the game.
