Note : from time to time, there seems to be dead links on the original sites themselves (the ctfbot site, for example, is missing in-game screenshots). I've tried to hunt for some of those files, but, when it seems that they are simply missing or inaccessible, I still just zipped what I got...

You got to make really sure you catch all files. wget alone really does not do it. Often stuff is linked to www.planetquake.com/site... Not to mention some annoying file name case issues. (And mysterious blank pages at Teamshambler.)

I have about 200 sites saved. Still about 50 to go from the posted lists and then I'll check in with your lists and archives.

I will clean them first and then upload them on QuakeWiki.net. There will be a special archives section with the intact site, and an alternate zip archive.

I think there are 351 PlanetQuake sites for Quake according to whoever's site however he got the information (?).

Anyway, it is nice to see someone is backing up these great sites.

I have started uploading 260 websites on QuakeWiki.net. Soon after uploading, links will appear on the homepage with a "Visit site" link or a "Download archived site" button. I'm glad I got so far with this project. The sites still need cleaning up and removal of all sort of ads. I'm counting of you to tell me if I miss something and complete the archive.

The links will appear tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

EDIT: The sites have been uploaded! It took a day or so to upload everything and you can find them on (see the site updates). I will work on the theme these days.

Tell me if there's something missing and provide links or even archives to missing sites, so I can complete the list.

When I finish the list, I will create separate archives and post them as well so you can make copies.

Still a lot to do among all the projects I've got on these days. These weeks better said.

Following this archives fixes, optimizations and zipping, I'll do a category system based on game (Quake1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ... n), and more archives with all Quake 1 maps I have lying around, some mod pages, and more. All this in an effort to categorize everything about Quake 1. EVERYTHING.

BIG QUESTION! Does anyone have the ftp.cdrom.com archives/backups/saves/anything? cdrom.com used to be a storage place for all kind of Quake stuff.

Or, are you aware of any quake ftps or repositories on the net?
