I haven't seen these players in a while. Some a long time gone, other recent. Where are they now?

4) Dolemite
5) Bro
6) Makanator
7) Ryu

Hideo
9) Turnstyle
10) Dr. Spanker (an old, old name)
11) Koopa
12) Blaze + Vixen
13) Can of Fodder
14) Core
15) RSN
16) Angel
17) Sir Slayalot
18) QKeeperQ
19) Army of Me
20) Napoleon

Players come and go but I don't think I've seen any of these players in a year or so.

Dr. Diode I still talk to!!! He hasn't had much time to play though.. He stated he will be jumping back in sooner or later. Just an FYI.

I just played Hideo the night before last. He has joined the army and will be leaving in December.

Weird was playing UT2003 the last I talked to him.

Heard from Makanator last week. I think his computer blew up or something and he got a new one.

Tejay showed up a couple weeks ago and mentioned it had been a while since he played before leaving mid-game.

Dr. (thanks for holding my stuff) Spanker hasn't been seen in a couple years.

Koopa still shows up occasionally and always accuses me of kicking him because he wears those damn cross-dress colors that the mod doesn't like.

Vixen, lol well I know where she isn't. If you ever see Fnee ask him about it. :roll:

Napolean still plays mostly on sunday mornings.

Can of fodder showed up a few times one day a few weeks ago under a different name till he left.

Few guys on there supposedly retired (whatever that is supposed to mean). One formerly respectable(?) guy on your list who also claimed to retire seemed to be completely fed up with Quake from some lame rantings I saw at Shmack and I don't think is ever coming back.

I just installed Win2K on my computer, so hopefully WinQuake will let me connect to a server now. I just need to reconfigure my router. Honestly, the only reason I'd even play anymore is because of this community, just to see what everyone is up to, and maybe score a few frags in between.

In the meantime, for those not living in 1995, I can be found on Xbox Live just about every night under the gamertag "Even." :wink:

Bro is me, and I'm still around, just not in the quake world any longer. Tried to make a come back a few months ago, after being away a year, and then could no longer enter any server. Guess it just wasnt meant to be. So now I will just go back into hiding again.
Mak's pc did die and he is trying to get a new one built.
WeirdQ moved onto UT
others I have no clue about, I still speak to Mak and weirdq almost daily in icq and they tried to get me back into quake but not much u can do when the screen just says connecting and then nothing. Oh well I've said enough for now. Have a good Christmas everyone.

This is a well-known problem and often occurs with Windows XP in particular if you are using broadband.

All you need to do is download ProQuake from http://www.planetquake.com/proquake and use version 3.50 (the fix for this problem was added in ProQuake 3.40).

There is a server that has a server-side fix ... try to connect to quake.xoc.net and that should work even with the XQuake that you are using.

Thanks Baker, but I tried that back when I was first having the problems. I believe it was either yourself or IEEE that told me to do that. Funny thing was quake was working fine then one day I excuted my name and could no longer get into servers. Oh well, hey I had a good run of 5 years, had a lot of fun. Heck even at one time I was respected as a player and admin but that all changed towards the end.
