Quake Reforged is a retexturing project for Quake, Scourge of Armagon and Dissolution of Eternity with the purpose of bridging the old graphics to modern standard, while maintaining the classic atmosphere and style.

Quake Reforged is also our little contribute to the Quake community, already homaged between the others by Rygel and his hi-res textures. 

During the years several enhancements have been produced, but a complete set of skins seemed to be missing, so we tried to fill the gap at the best of our modest skills.
 
Obviously, faithfulness to the original was a major parameter of judgement, but we also tried to add a bit of personal taste in the mix, while proving alternative skins if everything fails.
For example, if you are too scared to fight the new shapeshifting Chthon, simply download the alternative skin.

DEVELOPMENT

Quake Reforged is delivered to you by a passionate team of two guys, Alfader and Nergal.

We reckon that the project started with big promises and at one point we thought about resizing our ambitions, but in the end we chose to deliver on all sides, given the time.

To be honest we didnt acknowledge the massive amount of work needed, and even worst, our foreseeable increasing lack of free time.

We also had several false starts, for example the textures initially being 512res only or the various tests on the monsters, before following the unanimous desire of faithful versions instead of our redesigns.

The wait has been long, but at least  we hope to give proof of our commitment with this first release.

QUAKE MONSTER PACK

These skins are inspired by the original ones from Quake: we tried to maintain a familiar feel, reserving us the liberty to add details when we thought they improved the final result. 

This pack contains all the skins, from the dog to the bosses Chthon and Shub (Not the Optionals).

If you want you can try the alternative versions simply visit the quake reforged site, and download the single optional skins.

Every skin has a minimum of 4 files  diffuse, gloss, luma, normal, with glowmaps in some cases.

A few skins, bosses in particular, are animated, realized with different frames that could be used independently as alternatives.
For example, Shub has a big pulsating heart that pump loads of blood out, while Chthon morphs between different states during the fight.

Weve remade also the skins for the severed heads of every single monster, so make them explode and enjoy.

INSTALLATION
--------------------------------------------------------------

To install the skins just unzip the contents of " For Qrack\qrack\textures\models\ " or "For darkplaces\id1\progs\ " in the relative folder on your engine. Replace everything and you're done. 
Of course use only one of two folders at once.

If you want to use these skins in other engines, simply take the contents of the folder "For Qrack\qrack\textures\models\" get the file ".jpg" and insert it in the relative folder "textures". For example, in Ezquake, simply insert it into "C:\ezquake\id1\textures\".

For proper and complete use, we recommend Darkplaces, particularly for the many effects built into this engine. Also visit our Teach Guide (http://quakeone.com/reforged/tech.html) to improve the quality of Quake.

Note:Only for Darkplaces, there is a folder, named scripts which is necessary for the animations of Chton and Shub Niggurath. If you do not want the animations, delete the "scripts" folder and all the textures listed below:

NOTE: You can use each single set of textures listed above (for example: boss.mdl_1.jpg, boss.mdl_1_gloss.jpg, boss.mdl_1_glow.jpg,boss.mdl_1_luma.jpg, boss.mdl_1_norm.jpg) as alternative version.

We use the name convention of Darkplaces, but the skin works for any engine that supports colormaps (!!!), glossmaps, luma and normalmaps (the last three are optional).

For Example files are named this way (Darkplaces)
