Whether or not you glean anything interesting in the process is your business.

Maybe it is just the completist in me, but I go for all items every time I replay the game. I guess I have a new twist for my next playthrough.

And I completely agree about the communicators. I never remember which area the Neutral Zone guys say they work in (bad memory) so it is kind of a crapshoot At least the choices become fewer after the first half of the game, since you can stop using the first communicator by then. But if it is true that you don’t even need to have the communicator on your person, does that mean that just hearing GA GA GA will trigger whatever lock exist in the level? Or can you bypass the communications room altogether?

And the Greek letters aren’t so hard to keep straight, since the communicators are arranged in alpha-beta-cal order on the inventory screen, alpha through delta. I made a small goof, though. You just need to possess the communicator to open a boss door, not to take it into the stage it works in.
