|So
Radium is Back...|September
23, 1999
Radium
started reviewing TFC maps again.
Do
you care?
Of
course you car! There are hundreds of maps out there and
there is only a few TFC map review sites that continue
to post new reviews. There are even fewer sites that will post a review that doesn’t
pull punches or try to suck up to the map makers.
Now,
this may sound strange coming from a guy who runs a
column that is exclusive to a competing TFC Map
Reviewing site, but I am glad Radium is back.
Last
time I checked File
Planet (moments ago) there were 160 Team Fortress
Classic maps out there. And
I know this isn’t the definitive list all TFC maps.
I’ll bet, that between MoOg and Alnya over at Mutilation,
Borg at The
Collective and Radium at – well – Radium,
that we haven’t even come close to getting decent
reviews of all of them.
And I know there are more reviewers out there AND
more maps.
Not
to mention, more review sites. But do you care?
A
second opinion. A
different perspective. A
new slant. Whatever
you want to call it.
Work
with me on this one…
If
you went to the doctor for a regular physical exam and
he informs you that you must have your testicles removed
or you are going to die in 3 months, do you think
you’ll get a second opinion?
Ok,
bad analogy. Try
this one…
Did
you avoid going to see The Phantom Menace, even though
most movie reviewers ripped it to pieces?
I
didn’t think so.
So,
for those of you who think Radium is Dead and he
shouldn’t do reviews anymore because he took a month
off – GET A LIFE! He
obviously has a life, and is busy living it. You should
try doing something beside crying all the time – like
your homework. Have
you ever started a new job?
Oh forget it… you’re probably late for class.
And
for those of you who only read Radium Reviews and claim
that all other map reviewers suck – GET INTO LIFE! Because it’s all about the second opinion, baby!
Try reading the other reviews, too.
If you keep searching, you just might find
someone who gives high scores to the same maps you
would.
Now
wouldn’t it be a perfect world if we all liked every
map that Radium gave a high score to?
Wouldn’t
it suck if all map makers created levels JUST to get
perfect Radium scores?
Wouldn’t
it REALLY suck if all public servers only had Valve maps
in their rotation?
Peace,
Wedge
The
views expressed here are probably different from yours.
And I’ll probably piss a bunch of people off with
them, but that’s what this is all about, neh?
Give me some feedback, chummer. I’m sure Borg
will give me my own forum, eventually. For now,
just find my post in the community section. No
trout were injured in the creation of this editorial.
