Recently, Akula-J- chose to revisit his classic map and bring it up to date. The result is a clean and simple capture the flag variant.
Cydonia has the typical two bases separated by a center divider. An underground passage connects both bases and offers alternate access between the bases. The objective of the map is to capture the enemy flag, but a secondary goal has been included for bonus points. In each flag room is a button offering access to a control center in the ramp room. Detpacking the control center will score three additional points.
Cydonia escapes the terrible blandness of most 2fort style maps and maintains a style all it's own. Noticably more quiet than the original, the map holds it's ambience through the use of an attractive skybox with a full Mars and the use of some good sounds.
Cydonia Two is a rare gem amongst capture the flag maps and holds your interest after many replays and is well suited to good matches between skilled players.
