Sentry Gun & working around it
Sentry gun also known as SG. It is corner stone of defense. If there would be no SG on defense, enemy can go
freely to flag and back to home. When placing SG it is important to think how every class would
act when palyers sees SG, or even can they see it. If you can, place SG in place where is dark. If you do so, enemy has
only little time before he/she notices it. When it is on dark place, where no soldier can shoot his rocket, but it can shoot them,
it is in perfect place. Then nobody can go by it! It is important to think supply routes too. How can you repair it while not
going too far from it? When going to resuplly, do it fast and return quick to your SG! When you build SG, type in console "sbar_on"
then you have information about your SG's health points all the time, when it loses it's health points it means somebody is near it.
You should repair it immediately after it have lost it's health points.
When SG is placed, then it's time for Engineer to do some work. SG have to have some ammo... You have to put ammo in it
so it doesn't run out of it. If SG is near flag, so noone can go past it while it is where it is, defend SG, not the flag!
when you defend flag and leave SG to fight it's own fight, it is possible to enemy destroy it with no troubles.
but when you defend SG, enemy have to do lot of work. He/she has to survive your grenades and weapons before he/she can destroy your SG
and steal the flag. Defend Sg near it! Use your grenades wisely, do not run out of em, You need them.
And id there is more than one enemy, do not use normal grenades, us EMP. EMP affect range is larger than normal grenades, but also... if You know that enemy is close to you,
behind that roof... drop EMP just below him/her... EMP grenade can do damage thru the walls!!!
In close combat, use your Double Barreled Shotgun. In close combat it does more damage than railgun.
but in long range use your Railgun, because it shoots faster rate, so possibility of hitting is greater.
When you defend against soldiers, try to move as much as possible, because soldiers have no good close combat weapons.
They rarely hit if you move lot and circle him/her down.
Against Demomen try to avoid his/her pipes. Demoman is probably hardest enemy to engineer. But if you use your EMP grenade demoman can fear of his life.
As you remember, EMP explodes explosives victim is carrying, and demoman really have much of that kind of ammo...
When you are offensive Engineer, you can help your friends by blowing away enemy Demomen pipebombs. Throw
Emp among them and watch them blow...
Against medic is difficult to fight. Medic is fast, healthy and has powerful weapon. Only thing it has is that it lack ammo.
It doesn't have much ammo for his Super nailgun, but avoid nails anyway. Nails do high damage to engineers...
But it is not the weapon, it is that medic moves so fast! He/she can avoid your grenades and circle yu down,
but when he lacks ammo, it is fair fight. As long as you have your grenades... Kill Medics as quick as possible!
They can regenerate their health points!
Against Sniper can be difficult, if sniper is good. his/her Autorifle is hard opponent if sniper with it can hit with good percentance.
Kill quick, because when you see sniper to stop, he/she actually is aiming with his/her rifle!
Against Scout is no problem. As long as you know where he/she is. Keep close eye on scouts movement.
They are fast, but nailgun is not as powerful as your shotgun is... But scout have much ammo...
you cannot circle him down, because he/she is too fast, but try to hit with normal grenade, if
it drops close, he/she is dead for sure.
Against pyro is kind of hard to figt. He/she have much armor, and VERY GOOD close combat weapon.
try to kill in medium distance with grenades. If he/she gets too close, you have allmost no hope of surviving.
Against HWGuy you have great change of surviving. But stay out of clear rooms! allways stay where you can go around corner.
Then he/she keeps shooting with cannon. Lob your normal grenade next to him, and then after moment, EMP grenade.
Normal grenade takes off some of HWGuys armor, and makes it easier foe EMP to fry him/her.
Against other Engineer is something many engineers hate. If both engineers are good.
It is hard to say which one wins. But usually winner is he who can prime his/her EMP
earlier. Stay away from engineer, remember what your Double Barreled can do...
Against spys is something different. Yuo cannot know where spy is, expect when he/she is moving defferent to other team members...
Then go "repair" his/her armor. At same time ID him/her. just "bind x id" where x is button you want to bind for identification.
