If you are in a sniper war, your laser dot can give away your location very easily. It can also give away that you are waiting for an enemy sniper in a certain spot - That enemy sniper should be smart enough not to walk into a dot on the wall behind him.

Hiding Your Laser Dot Against Snipers
Never ever let your dot give away your location during a sniper war. If you give away your location, you will most likely be a dead sniper by the time you are fully out in the open. Start out by having your dot on the wall of the opposing base.

Be sure to keep your dot low so the enemy sniper still doesn't know you are there.

These next pictures are examples of what not to do if you are engaged in a sniper war. Do not keep your dot on the edge of your wall - this will definately give away your position. And, like I mentioned earlier, do not keep your dot on the opposite wall behind your opposing sniper. Then he'll know you are waiting for him.

When an enemy who is running to your base sees a red dot floating around the battle area, they know that there is a sniper somewhere out there. Knowing this, they'll most likely jump around so that they're a hard-to-hit target. So what do you do? Hide your dot!

Hiding Your Laser Dot Against Other Enemies
Hiding your laser dot on walls and corners where the enemy will not see them unless they turn around is your best bet for a more open map like 2fort. In a the map well, however, you can hide your dot on top of the median. Or if you are in the flag room, you can hide it on ledges where the enemy cannot see it.

These are just two examples of hiding your dot. You can also use water, the sky, boxes, crates and other misc objects around the level.
