Maps
The best maps suited for a scout are those with flags or keys. Or any other kinds of maps where you have to infiltrate the enemy base or fortress, and steal something that they must guard. This page has a couple of those kind. Not all! There are far too many to be listed here. I will add more as I play more. But as for right now, I will only list those I know of. With a brief explanation of what it is about. And what you can practice on it (e.g. if there are areas with potential of allot of snipers etc.)
The maps are for both TF and MEGA-TF. If a map is TF only or vise versa, then I shall say so.
some screenshots got from JMC's TF mapzone.
2fort5 is a map every TF player (be it MEGA or not) should have! This is the "base" TF map. It is well balanced for most classes. Snipers have their own sniper nest, Engineers have plenty of places to put sentries. If you play this in regular TF, I suggest you be careful of the snipers. If they are many and they are hard to pass, try taking the water route instead. |
The Well The Well is also a very popular map, and should be in the maps folder of any TF player. The map is quite similar to 2fort5 in terms of basic design. It is much larger though. And much more balanced in my opinion. it is easy to avoid the snipers in the nest by taking the water route, which unlike in 2fort5, leaves you right at the enemy from door. There are two ways to get to the flag. Either by going up the ramps, through the sniper nest, then along the upper walkways to the flag. Or by taking any of the two elevators under the flag area. I recommend generally using the former. The elevators are quite slow, small and open. This makes you an easy prey for a soldier or Sniper. |
The Rock (1 and
2) This is one of the best maps in terms of design for TF. The architecture is some of the best I've seen in any TF map. It is also designed quite differently from most other maps. The goal is to get into the enemy base, steal the key from one area, then take the key over to the gas chamber (still in the enemy base) and activate it. Once activated, it kills anyone not wearing a gas mask. Or if they are not under water. The gas masks are located throughout the map. They are in areas marked with a toxic sign. These areas open up once the gas is activated. You have 5 seconds to get to them. There is quite significant differences from Rock1 to Rock2, but the gameplay is basically the same. I prefer Rock2 myself. I think it has been greatly improved over 1. |
2tech4 This map is very similar to 2fort5. There are some major differences in the design though. So it is no 2fort clone. The flag is quite hard to get. It is deep in the enemy base, and it is hard to get out once you get it. But not impossible. |
