| If you are new to the game, please read this. If you follow these guidlines then you should get into the game quickly without annoying other players. |
| 1) Don't take the flag/key unless you KNOW WHERE TO TAKE IT - if you pick it up accidently then drop it |
| 2) Don't stand next to your snipers - YOU'LL GET IN THEIR WAY when they try to strafe and get them killed |
| 3) If you are infected then GET OUT OF YOUR BASE - don't hang around infecting your teammates |
| 4) Don't be a glory boy - if you see a teammate with the enemy flag/key then HELP THEM - don't follow them at a safe distance then pick up the flag when they get killed. |
| 5) If you take the flag/key then lose it TELL YOUR TEAMMATES WHERE IT IS so they can go and get it. |
| 6) TALK, TALK, TALK. Watch your console, talk to your teammates, get communication going. This is a team game so talk to your team. |
| 7) PLAY YOUR ROLE - snipers snipe, engineers defend, scouts attack - there's no point an engineer constantly going for their flag. Your teammates will see you as an engineer and assume you are defending and have sentries out - if you don't you are weakening your defence. Swap roles and let a more competant engineer take over. |
| 8) DON'T BE LAME - an obvious one this but I've seen so many people just going for as many kills as possible ignoring the aims of the maps. This is pretty pointless and goes against the ethos of TFC. Find out what the aims of the maps are and STICK TO THEM. |
| 9) DROP WHAT YOU DON'T NEED - don't go charging into resupply and take all the ammunition - it's easy to do but can be very frustrating for teammates who are there waiting for additional ammo then you go in as a scout for example and take all the ammo - do you need rockets? No, so pick up one lot of ammunition then press your drop key and drop what you don't need. |
| 10) DON'T SWAP TO THE WINNING TEAM - this has to be the most annoying thing in TFC. I've played in so many close and exciting matches then one team gets a few points ahead and magically your team shrinks and the other team grows. This completely destroys the game and spoils all the fun. When you first join a game USE AUTOTEAM. Even if you have a favourite colour (I prefer to play blue as it's MCFC's colours) use autoteam for the match you join. Please. |
| 11) HAVE FUN. Obvious ? Well, I've seen people get frustrated, especially if they are playing sniper and there is a much better sniper on the opposing team, and start swearing at the obviously superior sniper, clogging up the console. Don't go out for revenge also - going in a a soldier and constantly taking out that sniper is lame and petty and annoying. If they're a better sniper then try something else or persevere and practise, don't assume you have the right to be best at everything. |
