WHAT IS THIS?

The Green Demon follows. It never tires. And you cannot kill it.
Your only hope is to stay ahead, as far away from it as you can.

This is a lightweight singleplayer mod for Quake inspired by
JP LeBreton's "Green Demon Challenge" Doom mod (https://jp.itch.io/green-demon-doom)
which was inspired by the "Green Demon Challenge" in the Mario 64 speedrunning community.

For added tension, I recommend playing with the soundtrack to "It Follows"

HOW TO PLAY

1) In your Quake directory, create a new folder named "GreenDemon"
This folder should sit parallel to the "Id1" folder.
	E.g.
		Quake/Id1
		Quake/GreenDemon
2) Extract the "progs.dat" from this zip into the "GreenDemon" folder.
3) Launch Quake
4) Once inside Quake, hit the tilde key "`" to open the console
If this does not bring up the console, start a new singleplayer game first.
5) With the console open, type "game GreenDemon"
6) Now start a new singleplayer game, and you're set!

If the Green Demon is too fast, or too slow, try changing the difficulty.
You can also enable a 3-Strikes-Your-Out mode by opening the console and entering "temp1 1".
Or you can disable this mode by opening the console and entering "temp1 0".
With each of these difficulty options, you will need to restart the map,
which you can do by entering "restart" into the console.

Changelist
- Skill now sets different speeds for the Green Demon
- The Green Demon will not appear on the start map
- By typing "temp1 1" in the console, you can enable 3-strike mode

CREDITS AND NOTES

In addition to my sources of inspiration noted above, I also want to thank
the Quake Mapping discord, especially Khreathor, EricW, thoth, and Spoike,
and all of the others who have helped me stumble through the basics Quake C.

The source code is included, and feel free to modify it or adapt this
for your own modding!
