Sunday, February 7 -holy sh*t! an update!

An update finally...
Been really long since I last updated. The reason is that I've been waiting for TFC to be released.
I've been having ideas of some things I want the guild to do. I will not mention them right now. Anyways, I wasn't sure whether to do it for TF or TFC, so I decided to wait until it came out before I decided which to go with and pursue that. If TFC is as bad as Half-Life is right now in terms of the multiplayer, then I'll probably stick with TF.

I was also waiting for TFC because I plan to do some strategies for it's scout, or whatever they call it there. I'll do them only if I fell it's worth it. By that I mean if TFC is playable first, then after that, if it's also fun and well balanced like TF is.

I know many say that Half-Life's multiplayer is good as it is now. But I can't agree there. Most people who say it's multiplayer is good are people either with good connections, or people who play on servers with a limit of 6 people. I find Quake and Q2 to be very playable for me. So I don't see why Half-Life isn't, since it's based on the Q2 engine.
I'm sure they'll improve in time though. I hope so anyway.

Well, I'll wait until TFC is released before I do anything as far as this site and the guild goes. If they don't release it soon, then I'll just forget about it and use my ideas on TF instead.

TFC
I'm sure you've all heard the news from Valve by now. First off, there's a new patch. This one actually fixes the lousy HL network code that we had to endure for the last couple of months. Now Half-Life is alot more playable for people on modems.

The second piece of news from Valve is what concerns this site alot more. Valve is going to release a free update for Half-Life. This update is named TFC. Team Fortress Classic. It's the same as TF, but for Half-Life instead! They say it's going to be exactly like TF. Except with new graphics, which includes models, textures and maps. There's also new sound. The gameplay will be the same. There will still be rocket jumping, grenade jumping, and so on...

I personally think this is the most terrific piece of news I've heard in a long time. I think it opens up alot of positive things that might not have been possible if Valve just released TF2 as a stand alone product and forgot about HL. For one, more people will be introduced to TF. Now, many people see this as a bad thing, I for one do not. I think that TF is alot more fun when played with alot of people, like Quake2 DM or Quake DM e.t.c. The people that don't want new people coming to the TF community, seem to all say that their reason is that they are tired of people who abuse the game, and don't really appreciate it for what it is. I am not saying we will not get any people like that, I'm very sure we will. But these kind of people come and go, and the "good" ones remain. So at around this time next year, we will have a huge TF community with most players decent as it is right now. The bad ones will come and be gone by then... Or so I hope.

The advantages of having a larger community really outweigh the benefits of a small one. I won't really go into it much, but think of it this way: Think of the Doom community, with all it's mods and everything. Think of the number of people that played Doom online at it's time. Now, think of Quake 2's community... Get the point?

Getting back to what I was talking about. TFC seems like it's going to be... how should I put this? DA BOMB! With alot of improvements by the same people who made the original TF, I doubt things could go wrong.

anyway, that's my 2 cents on that issue, hope you enjoyed it.

Site News
Happy new year! W000!

1999 is finally upon us. I would like to say that 1998 was a year that went slowly. A year that was tough, and that I just couldn't wait for 1999. Well, I can't. 1998 was a great year. It flew right by. I guess as you get older, the years get shorter... Or maybe I'm just playing too many games nowadays?

Anyhoo, just wanted to let you all know we're still around. And we will be, well into 1999. So stick around and expect more from this site, especially once TF2 is out. Gimme Light Infantry!

I'm gonna go party like it's 1999! oh wait... it is. Oh well, I'll go party anyhow.
