Well, as you can see we have moved too a new location at PlanetFortress.com. We figured we would fit in better here and we was offered a chance too be one of the sites here when it opened soo we took that offer and went with it. PlanetFortress opened today soo be sure too stop by and check it out. They have done some very nice work there. We still have to do a few things too make the move complete but overall it wasn't too hard. You also might wanna be on the lookout for a new look for the TfGuide. We are just discussing what we might do right now, but their very well may be a new look coming for this page. Also I would like too thank all the people who have been sending us e-mail about the page. We really appreciate your feedback even though we may be too busy too reply. So keep the e-mails coming and we will be sure too take your comments, complaints, and tips into account when we update. Till next time this is Zaleon over and out!

Happy 4th of July Everyone!!!! Boy did I have fun last night. We had a big ole party, where we grilled out and just talked, then when it got dark we went outside and shot a whole bunch of fireworks. It lasted like an hour and was really fun, I had a blast. Anyway, enough of me yaking about my fun. Till my next update.............See ya later!

If you haven't checked out the Team Fortress 2 preview over at Contaminated.net, do so now! Lots of great information there. I must admit, I'm getting quite giddy for TF2 now. :)

Hey, its the new guy! Actually its just me Zaleon with my first update on the tfguide. I have added a hwguy strategy by OX-[CE], so be sure to check it out under "The Classes" and under heavy weapons guy. Anyways, if you see an update anytime soon by Zarniwoop its really Kakrafoon he just changed his name. Thats all the news I have for today, so have a Happy Easter and give me your candy!

In case you didn't notice, the site's changed around a little to (hopefully) make it easier for future changes. I've added an area that lists important commands in TeamFortress, along with a small section on getting started with TeamFortress in the introduction. The revisions are now on the main page of the site, so you can see what's new immediately.

There will be more additions/changes in the near future, and hopefully TeamFortress 2 will be out not long after!

Wow! Our host site, PlanetQuake has received quite a facelift! Can't say we'll do the same for quite a while, not until TF2 comes out at least. Anyway, just wanted to say "Hi". We're certainly not dead, just enjoying Quake II or classic Quake, waiting for TF2 to debut. :)

Well, finals are done and vacation is just about over. I've gotten a decent amount of mail lately about suggestions for the site and it will all be responded to soon. Many requests have been related to adding some of the more basic information on TeamFortress- how to prime a grenade, how to rocket jump, etc. I think these are pretty essential elements of the game and will be adding a section for key bindings and alias assistance.
For a day or so I got so caught up in the Quake 2 hype that I actually believed TeamFortress 1 may quickly become extinct. I regained my senses, though, and have been playing nothing but TeamFortress lately. Quake 2 is great, don't get me wrong, but TeamFortress isn't going to even come close to dying (at least until the release of TeamFortress 2).
Anyway, thanks for all your input.

Surprised to see me? :) As you may suspect, I'm knee deep in college final exams, but also in Quake II. (Kakrafoon saw me on a server a day or so ago) Anyway, just wanted emphasize that while the site probably won't see too much change in the near future, due to Quake II, you can fully expect us to get back to work once TF2 is up and running. Till then, have fun and frag away!

Coldfusion[CE] sent a demo that demonstrates where and how to concussion grenade jump with the Medic on 2fort4. It's not just the typical battlements jump either, and was done on an empty server so there's no spam and it's not very long (under 400k). Get it by clicking here. Thanks Coldfusion! It will be posted on the Medic page as well when I get a chance.

The TeamFortress Strategy Guide needs a banner! We need one that will go on other Planet Quake sites advertising this place (like the banner above the "REVISIONS" graphic on this page). The dimensions must be: 486x60 and no larger than 15k. I can do one myself if no one responds, but I really don't think it'd be very good. If you can do it, you'll get credit of course and my eternal gratitude. Mail me if you can help with this please!
I've finished going through and roughly updating all the classes and adding some color to their pages. The next thing for me to do is go through them again, elaborating on anything relating to commands and providing examples for them (like making any mention of Rocket Jumping link to an example for an RJ alias). Demos will be added as well- most being small in size and demonstrating things like grenade jumping.
Thanks to LoiaL[CoC] for pointing out something that I can't believe I forgot to put in the Medic page- concussion grenade jumping! It's added now and there will be a demo soon demonstrating different useful things to do with that grenade.
If anyone sees anything still way outdated in the class pages, or things overlooked, mail me.

I updated the Spy page, adding the color that all the class pages will have soon. There's a new link on that page, to some very valuable information about the Spy and how to play it provided by Sir Weasel of The Knights Who Say Ni!. From what I understand, this isn't the last we've heard from him either. He definitely knows what he's talking about and I'm sure any wanna-be spies can find some great tips in there. You can go straight to Sir Weasel's spy tips by clicking here.
The TF Strategy Guide will be moving to PlanetQuake within the next few days. I'm not sure exactly when, but I'll send info to the bigger news sites when the move takes place. We will have enough room for some useful demos displaying tactics visually; for example it's not easy explaining how to grenade jump in words, and actually seeing when the grenade is primed and where to be in position will be useful.
All class pages will have a chart at the top displaying starting health and armor, maximum health and armor, class speed, and weapons and ammo information.

Updates have been on hold a little for the past couple of days; Lockandload isn't going to be able to host this site anymore and we have been searching for a new home. I believe we've found one, and once everything is ready I'll post the new address.
We're also nearing hit number 10,000 here!

Fang again. It looks like we're going to get even more help here at the Guide. Zaleon-[CE] has joined our ranks. Look forward to all the updates we'll be doing soon...

Hi, I'm Kakrafoon-[CE], and I'm here to help update the strategies. The whole site won't be updated at once, as I'll be waiting on some contributions from experts in different classes. I can't snipe my way out of a paper bag so it'd be dumb for me to post my sniper strategies, etc. Anything I update will be posted here, and will have a little  flag next to it on the index.
So far:

Fang-[CE] here. Sorry for the lack of updates, but it looks like we're getting some new help here. Let's give a nice rocket salute to Kakrafoon-[CE], the new co-maintainer for the Guide. We'll be updating the site soon, so keep a look out.

Greetings! Rooks here, finally. Why hasn't the site been updated in so long? Several reasons:
So, in other words, we've been busy. But, hopefully most of that is behind us now. And I guess it was sort of good that we hadn't updated ... since TF has been going through quite a few changes recently. Now that TF 2.6 is pretty much finalized, we can write again, without worrying about having to change it in the next week.
So, what to expect? Well, Fang just forwarded a lot of e-mails people have sent in over the weeks. I'll make the changes/modifications accordingly, but it won't happen overnight. I'll also make some strategy changes myself, factoring in changes in the Scout, Demoman, etc. As for the "neat stuff" Fang was talking about in the last update ... well, that's still up in the air. (We haven't worked on it in a while) The idea, using Quake demos to show-off strategies, was pretty neat, but it can take a while to implement ... ourselves especially. However, I guess it'd be possible for you guys to send in strategy demos. I'll take a look at them and append them to the map sections.
Well, that was a rather large update ... even though not much to the site was changed at all. :) I promise, though, we'll make some revisions ... and hopefully you guys will learn an extra thing or two. You'll need it, now that I'm an LPB Soldier. >:)

Fang-[CE] here. I'll be maintaining the site for Rooks. We're adding a few new tips for the spy and the engineer, and some for the pyro. We're also working on something that I think will be pretty cool. But like Rooks said before, don't want to spoil the surprise :)

I will be away for about a week ... on vacation in (hopefully) sunny Florida. :) Anyway, in the mean time, if you have any suggestions or whatnot, please send them to Fang. Also, you might have heard already that I'll be working with Mr.Potato-[CE] on reincarnating the Sycamore Tree. Indeed it will be sprouting news again, so watch out for it once I come back or so. :)
One more tidbit: ScAtTeRbLaK[M]'s advanced strategy tips may be heading this way, as he puts more of his time into the extremely successful (and entertaining!) TFV. More news either while I'm away (from Fang) or when I'm back.

Noticed that the TF Battlegrounds and TF ICQ buttons were linked to the wrong site, so I fixed that. While I'm at it, I should announce that I'm officially a member of the fine Clan Erinyes, the happiest clan around! :) I'm very glad to be on board.
Some future additions are currently in the works. I don't want to spoil the surprise, but I think they'll add a lot to strategy guides in general.
Also, I am very close to following Gibkeeg by shoving those buttons somewhere else. One or two ain't bad, and they're nice to view. But EIGHT? Anyway, I'll be putzing around, thinking about the whole situation.

June 13, 1997

Wow, things happen quickly in the TF world! Anyway, as you might have seen already on Gibkeeg's or Coolguy's news sites, the final 2.5 version of TF has been released. Not many changes from the final beta, but the VERY cool promo has been packaged into the new PAK file. All you have to do is unzip the TF stuff into directory fortress, and run "quake -game fortress". Then sit back and watch the action. :)
Some other changes: The Sawmill (a Heavy Weapons Guy site) has moved into Lock and Load as well. Gee, they really ARE turning into the "PlanetQuake of TF". :) Anyway, check it out for some great Hwguy tips.

As promised, more revisions to the site's layout. The classes and levels sections have been totally reworked. Some of the content in nearly all of the pages have been changed. The biggest change to the classes has probably been with the Scout. As for the levels, a friend of mine, Fang suggested that I add class-related tips to each one. It was a good idea so I did so. Thanks Fang!
Also, banners have been created for each class character, with the help of qME. As you can probably tell, they've been "enhanced" somewhat. Check them out and tell me what you think. Some are cheesy, I realize. If you want to redo any, just e-mail me with the attachment. Otherwise, I reckon the ones I have will stay.
I'd like to take the time to give thanks to some of the folks kind enough to make suggestions, point out errors, etc. Roger "Cougar" Keener for some Scout tips (which I really needed) and [UN]Falconeer[MOB] for getting me to think about some additional Sniper strategies. (He's also got a rather nice Sniper tactics page)
Finally, I've noticed that there are quite a few class-specific pages popping up. So far, I count 3: The Sawmill, Sniper Central, and Sniper Tactics. If I've missed any, please e-mail me. They're all quite good. I've mentioned them on the respective class pages, so that those interested can seek "higher learning".

Major revisions to the site's look and layout. No content changes so far. I will be fixing the classes section so that each one has its own separate page. (No more being bombarded with one super-huge HTML file)
All the graphics so far have been created by myself. Still waiting for someone to make me a snazzy title graphic and link button. :) (If I have time, I'll make a button myself though) Also, I've been playing around with qME (formerly known as QuakeMe), a utility which allows me to take pictures of models and whatnot. I'll probably be adding a few more images using that, in the next few days.

Changes will be made from time to time. Right now, the latest TF version is Beta I. I'm sure more betas are on the way, resulting in more modifications to this site. If enough are being made on a regular basis, I'll consider adding a separate "What's New" page so you can see which strategies and whatnot are outdated.
Also, I've been getting lots of helpful e-mail from players. Unfortunately, I really don't have time or the space to mention everyone who sends me a helpful tip. (I will, however, mention those who have provided substantial amounts of information) Anyway, keep the tips coming, as I will post them on the guide eventually.
Thanks to Biggles, Tigerchild and SirReal for some added suggestions. (Most notably, those regarding Spies, Demomen and Hwguys)
